Cavity Wall Insulation – An extra Layer of warmth!

January 01, 2018

Why Cavity Wall Insulation is Beneficial

Cavity wall insulation is not recommended for every property but for those with cavity walls it is essential.

Everyone would like to care more for the environment. Most people understand that it is our personal responsibility to try to reduce our carbon footprint. By being aware of energy emissions and becoming more energy efficient you will benefit in more than one way. Not only will you save money but you really will improve your living space. Up to *£225 a year can be saved on fuel bills by this one energy saving measure alone.

Without adequate insulation, heat energy can be lost through the roof of a property, the walls and badly fitting windows and doors. A third of all heat loss is through cavity wall spaces without insulation.

What are Cavity Walls?

Cavity walls are two layered external walls with a cavity (space) between them. This cavity space can be filled with insulation to trap the warmth inside your property so that you will have to use less heat energy to keep warm. In summer, the benefit is just as useful because the insulation will keep your property cool in the hottest months. You will also have less window condensation and the added layer acts as buffer for external noise reduction.

Will I be Eligible for Free Funding?

Funding is available right now and if your house was built from 1920 onward, it will more than likely have cavity walls.

If your property is less than 10 years old it will probably already have been insulated.

Your brickwork/stonework will have to be in good condition and your wall cavities must be at least 50 mm wide. Don’t worry, we will help you find out all the details you need to know. Just give our friendly team a call and they will guide you through the whole process to see whether you qualify for the funding.

Planning permission is not needed unless your property is listed or in a conservation area.
